Análisis del 2024 / Analysis of 2024

At this special time of year, we at STC would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy holiday season full of peace and joy.

2024 has been another difficult year, and at STC we have worked tirelessly to address the situations that affect the well-being of the workforce.

We would like to share with you a summary of STC’s activity during 2024, starting by remembering the more than 50 forced departures: people with names and surnames who have been part of our day-to-day work. For these people, all our remembrance.

Our work over the last twelve months has been based on the following pillars:

Defense against dismissals:

  • Preparation of a report on a possible case of Ageism in ERICSSON, which we have disseminated to various media and political parties during meetings held with the PSOE, Más Madrid and PP, both in the Congress of Deputies and in the Community of Madrid.
  • Delivery to HR of a proposal for a social plan focused on promoting voluntary departures, rotations and training opportunities.
  • Holding of protest assemblies and informative ‘culebras’ (snakes) in the different buildings.
  • Complaints to the Labor Inspectorate about the lack of information that the company must provide to the RLPT.

Defense against the loss of labor rights:

  • We have defended the need for our own collective bargaining agreement, as the current Metal Agreement allows for the absorption of increases, to the detriment of the workforce.
  • We demanded a more equitable and transparent distribution of merit increases, a clear and accessible Job Roles calibration system, and a Job Stage that encourages professional development.
  • We have resorted to the courts when dialogue has not been enough. As a combative union, we have invested a lot of resources in our legal office to defend our employment rights. We are convinced that, although sometimes invisible or criticised, our work is essential.

Dialogue with the company:

  • We have maintained an open, constant and constructive dialogue with People, addressing the main issues of concern to the workforce, such as redundancies, the pay system and teleworking.
  • We are part of the Select Committee of the European Works Council, which gives us early access to key information and important contacts with the company and other trade union representatives at European level.

Dialogue with other unions:

  • STC has set up a coordination group for mobilizations against dismissals that has been meeting regularly. We hope that the trade union sections that have not participated so far will join in 2025. We consider the other unions, with different visions, to be essential allies in the defense of our rights.

Dialogue with the workforce:

  • This year we have made a huge effort to engage in dialogue with the Ericsson workforce through multiple mechanisms with
    • More than 60 telematic chats: Payroll, Labour Jurisprudence, Training, Taxes, etc.
    • Specific talks to different groups: Quarterly KPI Bonus for the ex-ENI group.
    • Surveys to find out the opinion of the workforce and define STC’s position on issues such as the STV 2025 agreement.

We close this summary with cautious optimism: although cautious, we expect progress in the dialogue with the company for 2025. All indications are that the new year will be positive for Ericsson Spain. We are ready to move forward in this dialogue and we extend our hand to People.
