Modelo híbrido de teletrabajo / Hybrid model of telework

A few days ago, a communication was received from MELA’s senior management, proposing a hybrid 60/40 work system with an average of 3 days a week of office attendance. Other management is also informing about the obligation to come to the office a minimum number of days.

Currently in EEM all the staff has a great flexibility to decide the days they attend the office, which would now be seriously affected by this measure. This fact means that many people have changed their life habits, reorganizing their schedules for family reconciliation and even making investments to create a space in their homes to telework a significant percentage of the working day. With this measure it seems difficult to continue enjoying second homes, either in the summer or the rest of the year, or to be able to take care of relatives continuously, or that our children do not have to stay in the school dining room, etc.

Working 3 days a week in the offices will generate a great damage and impact on the personal lives of the staff, such as the increase in work-related accidents, historically due to accidents in itinere, and the stress caused by traffic. And we should not forget the environmental impact due to polluting gas emissions.

STC did not sign the telework agreement due to the legal uncertainty of the company’s proposal, which in the final version, drafted unilaterally by the company itself, eliminated paragraphs of dubious legality that were in the version submitted to the RLPT for signature.

From STC we take this opportunity to call to resume the negotiation on teleworking to reach an agreement that benefits all parties, not only the company, and give solution to the problems of conciliation that this new decision will bring.

In STC we are evaluating protest actions against this decision contrary to work and family reconciliation, including protest demonstrations to make visible the discomfort of the staff.
