Ericsson in Spain has had two types of long-service awards. The award for 25 years working at Ericsson, as well as the 100 years award, which results from the sum of the employee’s age plus the years of seniority in the company.

According to our estimates, this year there will be THREE people who meet the 100-year condition. It is a long way from the last time this recognition was given, but according to former workers consulted, the award consisted of a payment in the amount of the salary of the third official of the Metalworkers’ Agreement of Madrid, together with a gold-plated watch. The company has informed us that the amount of this award will only be a pay of €1,072.82 net.

It is customary at Ericsson to give out these awards at the end of the year, although the entitlement is acquired on the day of joining the company.

In 2014 the company restricted the award to 25 years of service to those people who were hired in one of Ericsson’s companies in Spain before October 1997. In the first instance, the National Court has admitted this criterion, taking into account the various past mergers of companies of the Ericsson group in Spain. It is awaiting the Supreme Court to ratify it and make it final. The company has decided to take this same criterion in relation to the 100-year award, while the challenge before the Supreme Court is being resolved.

At present, the group eligible for this award would be around 300 employees.
