Reunión con Andrés Vicente / Meeting with Andrés Vicente
At the request of STC, the union representatives were able to hold a meeting yesterday with Andrés Vicente and Human Resources management. We would like to thank our CEO for the information shared, as well as the tone and mood shown during the meeting.
From STC we have conveyed the concerns of the staff due to the continuous layoffs. Given that the latest audited accounts of Ericsson Spain show excellent results, we have insisted that Ericsson must have a social plan so that the layoffs are not traumatic, and that the workforce that reaches a certain age can leave the company in decent conditions. For reference, approximately 71% of the people laid off in 2023 were aged 48 years or older, while this segment only represented 47% of Ericsson’s population at the beginning of 2023.
The continued loss of purchasing power is another concern of the workforce as is the need for a collective bargaining agreement of our own, which must be addressed as urgent measures. We have also exposed the company’s difficulty in attracting and retaining young talent, as well as the need to deepen re-skilling processes as the company itself recognizes.
As the majority union, it is our obligation to confront this situation by implementing initiatives to combat this policy of layoffs and loss of labor rights with the means at our disposal.
For STC, negotiation will always be the first option and we extend our hand to the management so that from today we can reach meeting points that are beneficial to the workforce. We have conveyed this to the CEO of the company in Spain. We hope that People’s management will take up the baton.
