Fin del ERE, miremos al futuro / Now that the layoff plan is over, let’s look to the future

Last Tuesday, June 9, the National Court issued a ruling dismissing the lawsuit filed by UGT against the mass layoffs. One of the toughest processes we’ve faced at Ericsson in recent years is coming to a close.

Beyond the legal proceedings, what matters most is what the workforce has gone through. This layoff plan has brought uncertainty, stress, and very difficult decisions for many people. At STC, we have been there, defending what you have conveyed to us from the start: stopping the constant trickle of individual layoffs and fighting for a framework of voluntary leaves.

In a legal context that does not require reaching agreements, we have achieved a key outcome: more than 94% of the departures were voluntary. This figure is no coincidence. It is the result of pressure, negotiation, and our collective ability to shape the process. Every forced departure pains us, but we have shown that there is another way of doing things.

We know we haven’t achieved everything we set out to do. We hold ourselves to high standards and will continue to do so. But we have also demonstrated, once again, that we are an organization that fights, that does not give up, and that acts responsibly in the most difficult moments.

The high number of voluntary departures sends a clear message: there are underlying problems the company must address. Restructuring is not enough; we need to build a vision for the future.

A new chapter is beginning. And the focus is on those of us who are staying at Ericsson.

Our priorities are clear:

  • Restore purchasing power and make progress toward real wage increases.
  • Balancing the workload and improving day-to-day working conditions.
  • Investing in training and development to tackle an increasingly demanding technological environment.

But none of this will come easily. We’ve seen it throughout this process: progress is achieved through organization, participation, and collective pressure.

That’s why, now more than ever, it’s important to stay engaged, stay organized, and keep building our strength as a workforce.

A layoff plan ends when the last employee leaves. The defense of our rights does not. It continues every day.

Let’s keep working together to build an Ericsson that is not only a place where it’s possible to work, but one where it’s worth staying.
