Subsidized training is a credit that companies and employees have to invest in the professional training of their staff, at no additional cost, through social security contributions.
In the case of Ericsson, the bonus can be up to 50% of the amount paid in the previous year, which means that part of the money invested in training can be recovered.
STC has repeatedly denounced the company’s lack of interest in taking advantage of this resource and we have insisted on the importance of having a workforce trained in accordance with the technological market in which we operate. Therefore, we request once again that the following measures, among others, be taken:
- Creation of a training commission between the RLPT (Legal Representation of Employees) and the company, so that the representatives actively participate in the development of training plans, transferring to the company the training needs of the workforce.
- Elaboration of a protocol in which the training processes are more transparent for the entire workforce and that mechanisms are defined so that access and assignment to the different courses is carried out in an equitable manner for all groups.
- Implementation of re-skilling (job retraining) and up-skilling (professional skills improvement) plans for those people who may be at risk of being dismissed and that favor mobility between organizations and talent retention.
- Establish per year a % of the working day to be dedicated to training to ensure that all staff have the option to train within working hours.
Recently a union has signed an agreement with the company on subsidized training, to which the rest of the unions have not adhered. From STC we consider that this agreement does not improve the current situation, since although the company provides information to the workforce on training resources, it does not guarantee that these are adequate, accessible under equal conditions and that they can be carried out.
On the part of STC, we once again call on the company to make an effort to optimize training (especially subsidized training) by involving the Legal Representation of Employees, as this would benefit both the company itself and the entire workforce. It goes without saying that in a company like ours, training should be an absolute priority.
